The Quadmill has four pre-programmed exercise profiles. The program always starts at the easiest, one-minute level. Pushing the select button moves to the next higher level through the four preprogrammed levels. The fifth level is manual, which changes to any higher or lower intensity level for any duration.
When operating the Quadmill the rider must;
- Absorb the wave-like motion of the Quadmill by softly flexing and extending the legs
- Keep the head and shoulders level.
This proper use allows the flexing of the legs to absorb the energy and full range of motion of the Quadmill. Riding stiff legged will not provide the benefits to the rider.
- Warm up using other exercise equipment such as a treadmill or elliptical
- Switch to the Quadmill for a short one or two minute eccentric conditioning workout. The rider or trainer must be the judge of the work out length.
- Recover with an easy session on a treadmill, elliptical, or other aerobic machine.
- As conditioning progresses the use of two or more eccentric work outs on the Quadmill separated by a cool down on another type of machine. For well conditioned riders, multiple sets of 1-4 minutes can be performed for rapid strength and anaerobic endurance gains.
The preprogrammed workouts are graphically represented next to each LED indicator for the program. The duration of these workouts is initially low. This is because the eccentric conditioning is very fatiguing, as is not as intensely exercised by other equipment. Consequently, the very easy look to the workout is deceptive. Initial use of the machine should be limited to the shorter duration profiles for 1-2 weeks.
